Design, Construction, and In-Service Causes of Premature Pavement Deterioration: A Fuzzy Delphi Application

Flexible pavements are prone to premature deterioration, and researchers unresolved regarding the importance of underlying causes resulting in inappropriately selected modeling parameters increased uncertainty predicting subsequent behavior performance. A windshield survey, literature fuzzy Delphi study were undertaken as complementary approaches costly conventional investigations identify reasons for flexible pavement deterioration design, construction, life span phases. Overall, results revealed that phase consists most contributors which is approximately twice much design construction However, findings suggest can be attributed deficiencies preceding Experts believe structural traffic significant more so than environment, maintenance factors. Additionally, surface subgrade layers deemed problematic. Applying method minimizes ambiguities associated with identified advantageous limited data. This proposes measures improving sustainable tropical pavements. Improved knowledge vital selecting appropriate strategies.
